To prepare for this Discussion: •Review Chapter 5 of your course text, Drugs, Gangs, and Organized Crime. Reflect on the various theoretical perspectives that attempt to explain the existence of gangs and reasons for gang membership.
•Review the website, “Which Kids Join Gangs? A Genetic Explanation.” Consider the evidence that supports a genetic basis for gang membership.
•Review Chapter 10 of your course text, Drugs, Gangs, and Organized Crime. Reflect on the theories used to explain organized crime.
•Select two criminal theories that can be applied to both gangs and organized crime groups to use for this assignment.
With these thoughts in mind:

Post a brief description of the two theories you selected. Then explain how each theory accounts for both gangs and organized crime groups. Be specific and use examples to illustrate your explanation.
