Drama and “the dream”

One of the themes we repeatedly discussed since midterm is the birth and death of the dream as presented in dramatic literature. This dream could be “the American dream” but our discussions were not necessarily limited to a national mindset. (Compare and contrast TWO plays on the dramatic idea of “the dream:” with specific attention to play structures, related themes, characters defining and working toward their specific dreams, conflicts over the meaning, significance, or partical attainability of the dream).
Begin your essay by clearly defining the dream you will be analyzing as well as by establishing your argument about how specifically the plays you have selected contribute to an understanding of how dramatic literature can illuminate the joys, fears, and failures of such human hopes.
