Duke Children Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit Custom Essay

Journal Log I was a volunteer on 2/21/2014 7am-2pm at Duke Children Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit (5th floor) Giving out flu shots to parents and grandparents or support people that are listed if grandparents are not going to visit.visitors must be over the age of 18. The hospital is on visitor restrictions which means no kids and only parents grand parents or support people in place of grandparents can visit this particular unit This is to decrease the chance of infecting this patient population with H1N1 which proven to be deadly this season who most already have compromised immune systems. Need to discuss that yes this is late in the flu season however we need to still offer on a daily basis until we get 100% compliance or the season is over. Due to a high volume of parents refusing related to lack of education and or fear it is our duty to protect our patients and their families. That is why this project was so special to me.
