ECON 620: Macro Environment for Business;

Group Project 1: Demand Estimation:
Each group of 2-3 students will select a firm or an industry preferably in the UAE and collect time series data on relevant measures of sales, prices, income, advertising, and other relevant (socio-economic) data to support the construction of a multi-variate demand regression model. The student must build the econometric model utilizing Eviews. Results of the analysis must include:
1. An executive summary;
2. Information supporting the choice of the variables, including the socio-economic variables (model specification),
3. Details concerning the model development and data acquired;
4. Interpretation of the statistical results, the coefficients, and the sales forecasts including confidence intervals;
5. A sensitivity analysis for alternative scenarios, and interpretation of the elasticities and the implication to pricing strategy; and
6. Interpretation of the results with implications to business policy.
Project 2: Sales Forecast:
Use the same data set you used in Project 1 and using EViews to generate sales forecasts for the selected industry. The report should include:
1. Executive summary.
2. Description of the data.
3. Forecast sales using several methods of Exponential Smoothing and ARMA Model.
4. Plot the forecast from different models to choose the best fit
5. Discussion of your results.
6. Conclusion.

General Instructions:
1. All submissions should be submitted in Microsoft Office WORD format.
2. The manuscript should be 5-10 single-spaced pages.
3. The cover page should include: NYIT logo, Name of the program, title, author’s name, and date (See Template).
4. The manuscript should include: an introduction, content, a conclusion, a reference section, and appendix if needed.
5. Important figures and tables should be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript.
Margins and Line Spacing:
1. Use “Normal” margins (1”) for top, bottom, right, and left.
2. Allow for a double spacing between paragraphs.
Fonts:
1. Use font type Times New Roman.
2. Use font size 12 for the text
3. Use font size 16 bold for the title, and 14 for the authors’ names.
4. Use font size 14 bold for subtitles.
5. Use font size 11 for the text which includes tables and references.
Headings:
Subheadings should be set in italics, bold and aligned to the left-hand margin of the column on a separate line.
Tables and Figures:
1. Use font size 11.
2. The charts and graphs must be centered and title should be at the top.
3. Number all tables and figures with Arabic numerals in the order in which the tables are first mentioned in text.
Footnotes:
All other footnotes (except for table footnotes) should be identified with superscript Arabic numbers. Short footnotes may be included at the foot of a manuscript page. Longer notes should be numbered and grouped together in a “Notes” section at the end of the text.
End Notes:
1. Endnotes should be kept to a minimum.
2. Use single spacing and font size 10.
References:
All publications cited in the text should be present in a list of references following the text of the manuscript. Use Harvard Style in citing your sources in the text and in the reference list. You can refer to Sussex University Web Page or Angelia Ruskin University Web Page.
