Last week, we were introduced to Third Wave Feminism. This week we will learn even more about Third Wave Feminism as a theory, a concept, a movement, and its relation to other ‘waves’ within feminism. Most
of you have taken Introduction to Women’s Studies, so have learned about the waves of feminism, but if you haven’t, you will be reading quite a bit about them in this course. As a primer, you should read this short piece:

2a) Notes and Questions (12 points) As you read, note concepts or terms you do not understand and/or would like further information or discussion about. Research terms you may not understand further and try to unpack/define/explore the terms and concepts you may not understand. Share your notes and definitions. Since we cannot “discuss” in a classroom, we must use our online discussion board to wrestle with concepts and work together to understand the theories, issues, and explanations the readings present. You are required to post your notes/terms and one question specifically related to the texts and/or concepts addressed within the texts to the Module Two topic on the discussion board and respond to two of your classmates so we can wrestle with these concepts together.

2b) “What is…” List of Features (8 points) Last week, we shared preliminary understandings of third wave feminism. Now that you have explored so many aspects of third wave as a theory and movement, what is your understanding of the issues and elements that make up the “Third Wave”? How is this distinguished (or distinct) from previous feminist movements (second wave particularly), if at all? In other words, what are the differences/similarities between the “waves”? For this part of the module, you are required to come up with a list of features of Third Wave, including what makes it distinct from previous “waves” (if it is). You should include five features and/or distinctions. Include this at the beginning or end of your “Notes and Questions” post.
