Consider how to implement redevelopment project for each of the three candidate properties. The project is developing a Brownfields location into a small high school size football/soccer field. Each project will require outright cleanup work at all three properties. How could you structure your redevelopment to reduce or eliminate additional cleanup work while at the same time protecting human health and the environment? Remember a successful Brownfields redevelopment exploits synergies between the redevelopment and environmental concerns. For example, if a property has an area of contaminated soils, the redevelopment could be designed to place an asphalt parking lot over the contaminated area. This effectively shields the public from direct contact with the contamination and also prevents rainwater from percolating through the contamination and carrying it into the groundwater. Also address the following:
(1) Describe how you would implement your redevelopment to minimize or eliminate environmental threats. Is it possible to tie any of your proposed environmental remediation efforts into your proposed redevelopment, i.e., are there any synergies you can take advantage of? Do any of your three candidate sites present particular challenges and/or opportunities? If so what are they? (Three paragraphs)
(2) Describe the physical changes to each facility that your proposed redevelopment will take (e.g. will buildings have to be torn down or renovated, will you need a parking lot, how about green space, will new structures need to be constructed, etc.?”) (Three paragraphs)
