Present generic cases for the use of all the following standards:
1) ISO 14040 Environmental management — Life cycle assessment — Principles and framework.
2) EU Eco-label.
3) ISO 50001 Energy management systems – Requirements with guidance for use.
4) FLO Trade Standard.
5) ISO 26000 Guidance on social responsibility.

Context:
You are reporting to a senior executive from a generic UK company. You work in the same company as their sustainability team.

Content and assessment criteria:
– Why should the company implement the standards? (20% of marks).
– How could the company achieve the standards’ aims using the standard? (20% of marks).
– What evidence is there that these standards help companies achieve the standards’ aims? (40% of marks). (use balance evidence pros and cons!)
– Transparency/referencing and report format (20% of marks):
– Harvard style referencing of ideas and theories used from books and journal papers
– Transparency of referenced material, i.e. discussion of referenced source rather than just as justification for own argument.
– Full reference list.
– Formal writing style, word processed with no typos or spelling mistakes.
– In a report format with section headings etc.
