Ethical Conflicts
Human services professionals are expected to follow professional ethics and codes of conduct. At times, however, this can be difficult if they conflict with clients’ best interests and/or personal moral codes. The course of action to resolve any ethical conflict is rarely black and white. Instead, it requires that human services professionals use their experience and personal wisdom, refer to the professional ethics and codes of conduct, and consider the best interest of the client in making a decision.
With these thoughts in mind:
The Assignment: Write a brief description of a specific ethical conflict that you might encounter in your human services area of interest and explain why it is a conflict. Then explain how you would address the conflict. Be sure to include the specific course of action you would take.
