Defend your position on an important ethical issue. You should select an issue that is relevant in our society, and you must have your topic approved by me by November 19. Look on the CQ Researcher Hot Topics site if you want to explore some really great issues that are important in our world today.
As always, you must use good, credible support for your position (quotes, paraphrases, summaries). You may use textual support from our book, but it is not required. You must, however, use support from at least three scholarly journals that you find on the La Roche College academic databases. If you want to use an internet website, it must be fully credible, and it must be in addition to the scholarly journal articles from the databases.
Remember to introduce speakers of all quotes, establish credibility of speaker and context for quotes, select quotes carefully, and analyze/ evaluate the quotes effectively.
Also remember that your voice as author should be prominent; you should be in full control of how scholarly support is introduced in the paper. Do not let your sources speak for you—only allow them to support your position.

Requirements:  • 6 – 8 full pages of text, 12-point type, double-spaced, one-inch margins • All quotes, paraphrases, and summaries accurately documented and cited according to current MLA guidelines.
Due Dates:  • Topics due—typed and submitted in class: Wednesday, November 19 • Thesis Statements due—typed and submitted in class: Monday, November 24 • Complete Draft Due: Monday, December 1 • Final Paper Due: Wednesday, December 3. Must be submitted on Blackboard by 11:00 AM and hard copy submitted in class (with draft and peer edit)
