During that week we learned basically looked at the relationship between identity and genre. As people are drawn to different genres for a whole range of complex

reasons, but often it links to issues of social and cultural identity. We looked at how different genres of popular music have become sexualized, racialized and

gendered, and in turn how they provide different types of emotion and feeling at different moments in time. Moreover, we consider genre as constructed through

commercial imperatives, thereby introducing industry and capitalism as a major force in the social and cultural experience of music and sound.
We looked examples in rap, disco music, metal, rock and etc.
