Which minority group has been least successful in gaining a voice and fair representation in mainstream American media? Why? Examine one groups media profile, both past and present. Describe past challenges, and provide evidence of the groups current representation in at least three mediums and its social impact.
Response includes excellent coverage of all concepts, and provides detailed examples:
Traces historical media representation of a single minority group (Latino, African-American, women, Asian- American, gay and lesbian or other)
Describes unique challenges faced by group. May include, but not limited to: establishment of separate press/media, segregation, conflict between integration and preservation, cultural stereotypes, equal rights struggles, criminalization, misrepresentation, acceptance issues, public fear
