Final Paper

Select a topic of interest that is a specific policing issue that affects the 21st century law enforcement officer. Select a major issue, initiative, trend, or movement in policing and law enforcement, such as community policing, COMPSTAT, or militarization of the police. Research the selected issue and write a paper. In the paper, address the following:

Describe the issue using information from authoritative sources.

Describe changes in external society that will have substantial impact on the issue. Explain the impact.

Discuss how that issue will develop over the years. Will it continue as it is, increase in intensity, or decrease in intensity? Give reasons for your position.

Support all statements with reasons and references to scholarly literature. Give examples where appropriate.
