Final Portfolio

Corpus Analysis Portfolio
The final assignment for this course is the Corpus Analysis Portfolio. Your task is to synthesize the experiments on your corpus you have been doing in Weeks One, Two, and Three to submit your Final Portfolio. Avoid simply putting previous corpus assignments in one file. In order to synthesize them effectively, read the following guidelines carefully for the Final Portfolio submission.

Organize the paper into the following six sections:
1.Abstract – As prepared and revised in the Week Five Discussion, “Final Portfolio: Abstract.”
2.Introduction a.Briefly explain what the corpus is about and its source.
b.Describe its scope (from Week One Assignment instructions). You will take this information from the Overview you submitted in Week One. Keep it brief.
c.Briefly describe the reasons you selected your corpus and your method of creation for the corpus.
d.Briefly discuss the two parts of the corpus you selected for your experiments with the Natural Toolkit Analysis. You will take that information from your Week Two Assignment. ◾Next, describe why you chose the two parts of your corpus, selections A and B, for two visualization types each using Many Eyes and Wordle. Take this information from your Week Three Assignment.

e.Your corpus questions. State at least four questions that your corpus raises. Your research is now complete, so raise questions that you can answer through the methods and tools you will describe in the Methodology and Results sections. Refer to your Week Two Assignment for questions.

3.Methods – Describe your use of at least two NLP methods on your corpus selection. a.Describe how your questions of interest guided you to choosing certain methods for analyzing your corpus selection. Take this information from your Week Two Assignment.
b.Describe your use of two visualization types on each of corpus selections A and B. Take this information from your Week Three Assignment. Refer to the labeled visualizations inserted at the end of the paper, for example, (Figure 1).

4.Results – Describe the results of the applied NLP methods (take this information from your Week Two Assignment) and what your visualization experiments with corpus selections illustrated and omitted (take this information from your Week Three Assignment). Refer to labeled Figures at the end of the paper.
5.Analysis – Explain the meaning of the results of the various methods and visualization tools experimented within the light of the research questions stated in the introduction section. To what extent did the results answer your questions? Were your answers those that you hypothesized? To what extent were you surprised by the results? What do your results say about your corpus selections for applying the methods and visualization tools and types and how do these compare with the overall corpus? Take this information from your Week Two Assignment. Also, analyze your visualization experiments on corpus selections A and B, evaluate how each visualization type was effective in analyzing the selections, and relate your visualization results to the topic of your corpus. Take this information from our Week Three Assignment.
6.Conclusion – Summarize the paper by returning to the introduction section and restating the main points of the paper. Which methods and visualizations were simple to execute and which were the most difficult ones? Which gave the most useful and which gave the most unclear results? Suggest future avenues for further research on your corpus and in the field. This is a place to add concluding remarks relating to your corpus, but avoid starting new ideas and discussions.

A separate “References” page is required with at least five references from scholarly journals and eBooks (Ashford University Library would be your best, free resource) that support your experiments. Cite references in-text to clarify your description of methods, support your interpretation of results, or suggest directions for future study.

The Final Portfolio must be eight to ten double-spaced pages in length, excluding the title page, references, and visuals. All aspects of the paper must be formatted to APA style. For information regarding APA samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford Writing Center, within the Learning Resources tab on the left navigation toolbar, in your online course. You may take additional pages at the end of the paper, after the Reference page, to include charts, tables, or other figures as appropriate and refer to these in your paper in parentheses (i.e., See Figure 1). All illustrations must be clearly labeled as Figure 1, 2, 3, etc. or Chart 1, 2, 3, etc.

Submission Requirements
Since this is the final submission, the following four Word files need to be uploaded on the submission page:
1.A file containing your Final Portfolio. The file name should be Last name_Final Portfolio
2.A file containing your entire corpus. The file name should be Last name_Corpus
3.A file containing your corpus selections A and B, labeled as such, used for the visualization experiments. The file name should be Last name_Corpus Selections A and B.
4.A file containing the one single spaced corpus selection used for the NLP methods experiments. The file name should be Last name_Corpus Selection_NLP methods.
