The main aim of the Draft Paper is to develop your formal analysis skills. So in structuring your essay, you will be expected to systematically and exhaustively analyze your chosen works of art considering the following:

Composition

Colours

Lines

Perspective/Flatness

Technique

Materiality

You should conclude your essay with a brief comparison of the formal qualities exhibited by both works of art and some considerations on the ways in which these impact on representation in your chosen examples. Your essay must comply with generic academic prescriptions such as footnoting, referencing, and bibliography. You should not use more than 2 Internet sources and should include at least 5 different sources. Your text must be spaced at 1.5 or double-spaced. Images must be included and labeled accordingly, specifying artist’s name, title of work, materials, and year of execution.
