Pick a franchise or other business that you may want to open in the future. Prepare a business plan
about the franchise and your ability to open it, operate it and be successful. Assume that I am the
bank and you are working to convince me to provide you with a loan to get started. Use the attached
business plan worksheet as a guide. It is recommended to use a franchise because there is much
specific business information found on the franchiser’s web site.
Things to consider:
Popularity of that particular franchise, where would you locate it, target market
Cost of ownership – total investment, recurring royalties/fees, franchise fee
Operating Costs, i.e. what are the day to day costs involved with operating the business?
Other financial requirements
Describe operating conditions placed on you by franchisor, i.e. level of control
Training received from franchisor
Marketing from franchisor – do they provide marketing data, do they provide national/regional
advertising, etc.
Ongoing support from the franchisor
What makes you think this will be a successful business?
Expected revenue/profit margin/net income?
Specifically, you will submit a proposal that contains the information found on pages 7, 9, 10, 12, 13,
15 and 18 on the sample business plan
