Project description
Produce two maps to present survey data provided to examine flows (for example of people and money) OR issues of place (for example how people perceive their shopping environment) in London Markets.

One map should present the spatial distribution of data for survey respondents that live in the UK, and the other should present the spatial distribution of data for survey respondents that do not live in the UK. The variable(s) you examine for these sets of respondents is your choice. Maps should be created in a GIS (e.g. ArcMap not EDINA Digimap). You will be provided with additional spatial data to create the maps.

Along with the two maps provide up to 500 words describing what they show and how the variable(s) vary spatially.

Discuss briefly how issues of scale influence what your maps show.

The following specific requirements apply!

i) Two maps, each presented on one side of A4 (i.e. two pages, one for each map). Maps should be exported as images from the software in which they were created and inserted into a Word document.
ii) The short report should be provided on separate pages of the same Word document as the maps (i.e. do not integrate maps into the text as you usually would with other figures). The text should be formatted in the usual way required for essays and reports. A brief introduction and a short summary should be included

1.ArcMap Introduction – the ArcMap interface, adding data and layers
2.Summarising Market Survey data – how to summarise data by postcode using a Pivot Table in Excel
3.Joining data to shapefiles in ArcMap – how to join summarised market data to postcode points
4.Symbology in ArcMap – how to modify data symbology (polygons and points) in ArcMap.
5.Adding XY point data to ArcMap – how to add XY point data (e.g., postcode point locations) to ArcMap.
6.Map Presentation in ArcMap – how to present maps in the Layout View of ArcMap.

Attachments:
1. Postcode Countries Coordinates
2. Markets Data
3. Polygons
4. Past example of the project and feedback
