  1. (10 pts) Do a Google search for Portland’s 22nd Annual Community Survey Results, 2012, conducted by the City Auditor’s Office.
  2. View the survey form. In what ways does this survey follow the guidelines presented in chapter 9? In what ways is it different? How would you rate the ease of completion on a scale from 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest)? Explain your judgment. What improvements would you suggest and how will they help?
  3. Critique the methodology. What worked and what did not? Explain.

  1. (10 pts) The city is concerned about the growing numbers of homeless people and the capacity of the nonprofit service providers, faith communities, and service organizations to meet the needs as the economy gets worse. City officials would like to conduct at least three focus groups with the key players most involved in this issue. What five questions would you suggest for the focus group sessions?
  2. (10 pts) Look at the table in below which shows the results of an organization survey. It shows the combined “agree/strongly agree” categories and just the “strongly agree” category. The question was whether their department operates by the city’s mission statement. Write your bottom-line summary of the data using the combined “agree/strongly agree” column, and another bottom-line summary of the data using only the “strongly agree” column. Remember, a summary is not a conclusion. What other information might you want to know in order to decide what, if anything, should be done?
