Each day, technology users encounter many different graphical user interfaces (GUI). Controls like buttons, textboxes, menus, and such are familiar to all. They allow us to interact with programs. A GUI both guides the user to provide inputs and shows the program outputs to the user. As you explored, the program processing from the inputs to the outputs operates hidden behind the scenes.

Although GUIs are familiar, the associated terminology may not be. Controls are the items in a GUI that the user interacts with. Events are what happens when a user interacts with the control in a specific way such as clicking the mouse, tapping the screen, or typing.

As an example, is the online classroom. You have a tree for navigating through all the class materials to access various units and assignments. In the Discussions, you can expand or collapse posts, can click a button to reply to others, or can type in your post. There is also general access to all of your materials including other courses and grades. There are many different things that you can do within this interface. Each item you interact with is a control, and each thing that you do is an event. Programming is all about dictating what happens because of that event.

Submit a screenshot of a GUI that you commonly use in Windows computers. Describe three or four controls and associated events for the GUI you shared.
