Purpose
In America and around the world, unprecedented environmental challenges continue to reshape the way we live; governments and businesses are crucial contributors in developing sustainable practices for our cities whose carbon footprint is ever increasing. In other words, major metropolises have to deal with population growth and the demands of a mobile society—

As the burden on cities to reduce their vast carbon footprints intensifies, current building technology is not environmentally sustainable (with over 40% of current greenhouse gases coming from the building sector), and the search for solutions that will maximize resource efficiency becomes tantamount. At the same time, the number of people without access to adequate shelter is growing at a rapid rate as city populations throughout Asia continue to expand by millions. Currently, nearly one-third of Asia’s urban population resides in informal housing or slums, which accounts for over half the world’s entire slum population. Click here to get more on this essay….. 

Sustainable housing solutions that seek to provide adequate living space for Asia’s growing urban population must be cognizant of demographic inclusiveness and the inequities that stem from urban poverty while simultaneously considering innovative environmental solutions.

The goal of this project to engage you in a collaborative writing project asking you to analyze, research challenges and needs and make recommendations in regards to sustainable housing solutions in Pacific Rim cities. 
Project Themes and Details
You will prepare an analytical report looking at the sprawling Pacific Rim Cities and address how existing housing infrastructure could be redesigned or replaced by environmentally friendly buildings that allow for quality of life in the personal and work spheres. Your focus will be particularly on one of the Asian Pacific Rim cities (Mumbai, Shanghai, Manila, Hong Kong); however, you might draw comparisons to all Pacific Rim Cities, including Melbourne, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, or even identify “best practices” examples from other metropolises worldwide.Click here to get more on this essay….. 

Process
Your perspective will be that of student consultants, or an activist group. In other words, you’ll be analyzing existing practices and make suggestions for improvements possibly including examples of “best practices” you find (you may compare two cities, for example).
Based on your findings for your selected organization or city, you will identify different perspectives on sustainable buildings and develop specific, innovative, and strategic recommendations for improvements. 

This is a team project. My team choose to analysis Hong Kong. Our target is looking for some successful green building technologies and make it practical in Hong Kong. My part is material efficience and Indoor environmental quality enhancement.
