Haidt writes about an emotion he calls elevation or uplift and he says that it occurs when one sees people move “up” on the “vertical dimension of divinity.” Describe a situation in which you experienced this emotion and indicate which of the characteristics that Haidt associates with the emotion (p194) you experienced yourself. For example, did it make you want to “perform good deeds”? Did the experience actually change your behaviour, or did the feeling pass before that happened (as Haidt suggests is usually the case).
