HEALTH INEQUALIIES – DATA ANALYSIS ASSESSMENT BRIEF
Abi and Brian have recently married and intend to start a family later this year. They desire to have a boy and a girl over the next four years. They also want to ensure that their yet unborn children enjoy a good health and a good life expectancy. They desire to live a healthy life and grow old together. They are confused about where to live as they have family ties to both Canterbury and Thanet.
• Looking at the public health profile for both districts and from a health inequalities perspective, which of Canterbury or Thanet would you recommend and why?
• Provide a credible justification for your answer using factual health inequalities data. Also, refer to relevant academic articles that underpin your arguments.
•
• Provide a comparative analysis of underpinning health inequalities statistics underpinning your arguments
• Present your information in the third person narrative
Please see bibliography in module booklet for a list of useful resources. Also, visit the following website for the health profiles of Canterbury and Thanet

You should look at other relevant health inequalities data and reports on illness spread for both communities in your analysis. The health profiles are a good start but other data will further enhance your work.
Refer to data available from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), the National Health Service (NHS), the Department of Health (DH), the Kent and Medway Public Health Observatory and peer reviewed academic sources in support of your data analysis
