History and Political Science

Asian History

Project description
This is not a book report; do not write a synopsis of what the author wrote. I want you to pick one or two aspects of the file attached and analyze why you believe it/they are important to your understanding of Asian history. For your analysis you must use information from the attached file. Do not use any other print or electronic sources.

STANDARDS AND FORMAT FOR BOOK ANALYSIS

When you write your analysis assume you are writing for a general audience with no prior
knowledge about your subject material. Remember, you must define any foreign language terms in
English.
-The first paragraph of the paper should introduce the subject and contain a thesis that tells the
reader what you are going to say about the subject and why it is important to your understanding of
some aspect of Asian history.
-The body should address your analysis of some significant aspect or aspects of the attached file. The final paragraph should contain a restatement of what was stated in the first paragraph. The first sentence of each paragraph should introduce the subject of that particular paragraph. Each paragraph should contain only one idea. Do not skip lines between paragraphs. DO NOT USE ALL-PURPOSE ENCYCLOPEDIAS WEB CITES, OR OTHER BOOKS OR HISTORY TEXTBOOKS AS SOURCES.
Your paper is to be double-spaced. Margins are to be one inch. Type must be 12 point font Times New Roman. 6
Brilliant ideas and analyses are not persuasive unless they are intelligently presented and argued; therefore, GRAMMAR, PUNCTUATION, SPELLING, AND THE COHERENCE OF YOUR WRITING ARE IMPORTANT AND WILL BE GRADED. Use this link to know the citation system ” http://www.press.uchicago.edu/books/turabian/turabian_citationguide.html “. This citation system is often referred to as the “Chicago Style Citation” system. This is the format for your paper citations which need to be in
the form of “end notes” to your paper. This citation system is to be used to document your quotes and cite your sources which you paraphrased from. Any unusual or uncommon fact, idea or concept that you obtain from a source must be documented. Since all of you are covering an area of history that is uncommon to you, most of your paraphrased information will need to be cited. However, commonly known facts, do not have to be documented. Direct quotations must always be documented and in quotation marks. Do not quote excessively! (Excessively means that more than 10% of the paper is quotes.) When in doubt cite your work! Using ideas or quotes without documentation is plagiarizing. The rule of thumb is that if you borrow a phrase of more than three words from a source put it in quotes and document it.
