history of panic attacks

history of panic attacks

Mr. RT is a 26 year old with a 2-year history of panic attacks. These episodes approximately occur once every 2 months, although they are random and there is no obvious trigger. When they occur RT experiences a sudden onset of extreme worry and tension, rapid breathing, palpitations and profuse sweating. During the episode RT feels that he is about to die. Just when RT feels he can get no worse the symptoms start to resolve, usually this is after 10 minutes. Although the panic attacks have no precipitant RT does not like experiencing them when he is out of the house, he worries about the consequences of ?losing it’ when outside. This means RT is now increasingly reluctant to leave his house, preferring the safety and security of remaining inside.
