Fair Deal are known for their wide-ranging reforms
and strong government intervention. Compare and contrast their agendas, the particular
conditions/crises to which they were responding, the ideological bases for their respective
policies, and the impact these policies had on democracy and the economy.

How did the United States become an “affluent society” during the two decades after
World War II? What roles did the state, industry, the labor movement, and the Cold War
play in
creating national wealth and upward mobility for so many Americans? What
groups did NOT benefit from such affluence, and why not?
