How do single-parent households affect the growth of the African American child?

The assignment given was simply to write a 10-15 page paper about any topic that pertains to the African American Family, so I simply picked the prompt, with very few specific instructions.

1) Brief on the statistical aspect of the single-parent household (amount, demographics, etc.)
2) I am the only white male in my Pan-African Studies class, so this paper must be written from that perspective. (Seriously)
