Implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives within Small and Medium Sized Enterprises

Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises have large market share of the economy in the UK, Which have a fierce competition with each other. The quality management plays the important role in the different enterprises, from current business practices to quality of products and services. It will help the enterprises get more benefit and survival longer. This paper will focus on the improvement within small and medium-sized enterprises which will become initiatives from inward. It will help the managers who come from the small and medium-sized enterprises know the impact of the quality management and what sort of benefit can they profit from the quality management. From the quality management, it not only for the enterprises’ managers, but also the government should have some policy to support the small and medium-sized enterprises.
You have been asked to write an article for the International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management (Emerald). An article may be of a theoretical nature, be based on practical experience, report a case study situation or report experimental results. The prime requirement will be that it:
a. is directly relevant to Quality Management or Quality Engineering topics;
b. is within the scope of the module coverage
You may choose any of the following themes from the given list. If you wish to propose a separate theme which is not given in the list, then that is also acceptable as long as it captures the essence of Quality Management/Engineering principles.

The article should be around 3000 words in length (excluding abstract). Figures and Tables should be of clear quality and they should be numbered consecutively with Roman Numerals. The titles for both figures and tables should be provided. References must be in Harvard Style and carefully checked for completeness, accuracy and consistency.

Note 1: It is strongly advised not to rely too much on web-based articles or information downloaded from the internet. You may download journal articles from Heriot-Watt University library. It is recommended to use a minimum of 10 journal articles for your article. Also use recently published textbooks or articles.

Note 2: Make whatever suggestions you think are sensible or practical based upon what information you have. You are not expected to be able to solve the problems, if any.
