implemented on a computer

Assignment Preparation Guidelines
1. Assignments must be implemented on a computer. Then hard copies of
the results should be produced.
2. Only hard copies of assignments are accepted for grading.
3. Assignments in electronic format are to be kept till the end of the course
on your home computer or at your York account.
4. All assignments must be clearly identified. Student first and last names
should appear on the first page. Student number must accompany, and
should appear beneath, the name. Assignments missing identity
information may have no grade recorded.
5. Assignments must be neatly stapled together in the upper left hand corner.
Paper clips, safety pins, tape, and so forth, must NOT be used, and may
result in lost points. If an assignment is too thick for one staple, it should
be divided into sections, and the sections each labeled and stapled.
6. Assignments are to be collated correctly. Incorrectly collated assignments
will be penalized. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure assignments
are correctly organized.
7. Neatness counts. Illegible work will not be graded, and resubmissions will
not be accepted. Ink jet or laser printers are preferred for output. Good
quality printers are available at York.
8. Assignments should be typed.
9. Do your own work. Handing in work which is not your own, without due
credit being given, is an academic offense. The grade for all such
plagiarized work, when caught, will be zero on all involved. Simple format
changes to the printout are not sufficient to create a “new” file or
assignment and is still considered plagiarism.
10. For HTML assignments, you MUST NOT use any kind of HTML
generators, verifiers or editors. All code is to be entered by hand using a
simple text editor such as a WordPad, Notepad, or pico. Do not load your
code into modern word processor such as Word or WordPerfect, which
may make changes to what you have written. ANY EVIDENCE OF THE
USE OF HTML CODE GENERATOR OR EDITOR WILL RESULT IN A
MAJOR PENALTY, INCLUDING A POSSIBLE ZERO GRADE.
11. You may be asked to explain your code or a part of your assignment. If
you are unable to explain your work, your mark will be 0.
