Use the media for disease outbreaks and results from epidemiologic studies. For example, find articles in the local newspaper or on the Web.

Develop a brief PowerPoint presentation on the disease or health outcome. The report should stress the application of descriptive epidemiologic variables (e.g., from the categories of person, place, and time) to the selected health outcome. This will be a 5 minute presentation.

Complete a grid that presents the uses as well as strengths and weaknesses of the study design (e.g., cross-sectional, ecologic, case-control, cohort, and experimental)
