The laptop that the salesman offered to a Zayed University student doesn’t have the hardware specifications that a university student would need during his or her studies. First of all, when buying a laptop a student should buy as many GBs of RAM as they can afford. The minimum RAM should at least be 4 GB because it determines the amount of data the computer is able to store and process in real time. The amount of RAM, as well as the speed of the RAM is critical to the performance of the computer. Quantity is also important, some programs for example, AutoCAD need a lot of RAM because there is a huge amount of information that needs to be stored.Second, the student should think of a high-capacity Hard Disk of 500 GB minimum. This laptop that the salesman offered has only 160GB. It is important to have minimum 500 GB because a university student would be using the laptop more often. The Hard Disk contains all the information on the computer so I think it is very important to have 500 GB or more. Third, GHz should at least be 3.0. Buy a laptop with the most Cores, Threads and GHz possible. Fourth, it should have a DVD/Blu-ray Drive. The one listed by the salesman doesn’t have a DVD/Blu-ray Drive. Netbooks don’t have optical drives and are light weighted but for a student I think a laptop should have a DVD drive because it may be necessary for his or her studies. Discuss.
