Urban planners, city officials, architects and designers have begun to develop innovative single-family techniques to encourage housing diversity and density in single family zones. These techniques can also promote affordable housing options. Designers and architects are creating innovative, low cost, single-family housing by using inexpensive yet sustainable materials, implementing spatially economic floor plans, and by incorporating energy efficient systems and appliances in homes in new developments.
