Interviewing a Manager
Order Description
Interview a manager. The manager is of your choice from any industry, preferably in business. It can be a current or
previous manager, someone that you know or if you are the brave and a curious type, venture out and find someone. The
manager that you are going to interview needs to be in management for at least 1 year and have direct reports. These are
the questions that you want to ask them:
Tell me about your background and how you got here?
What qualities/traits/values do you need as a manager to be successful?
What is your leadership style?
What have you done to differentiate yourselves from others?
What have you done to prepare yourself to go into management?
What are some of the obstacles in being a manager? Frustrations?
What advice would you give to someone who wants to go into management?
Who do you admire as a manager or leader? And why?
