<<Angry White Men>>
Write on Angry White Men, the topic is “aggrieved entitlement.” Begin by reading two short excerpts I have not previously assigned: from the Preface begin on the bottom of page xi with the line, “Surely the arc of history points towards…”and read through to the end of the Preface on page xv; from the Introduction I want you to read the section entitled, “The Political Psychology of Aggrieved Entitlement” on pages 21-25.
Assignment: What does Kimmel mean by the “aggrieved entitlement” felt by many straight, white males today? Why does it result in anger? How does he use the concept of “aggrieved entitlement” to explain white male anger in three chapters (your choice)of the book? What specific form does entitlement take in each of these chapters? What similarities are there across the three chapters?
