When I was growing up, I loved accessing new information and knowledge every time. I always compelled myself to read all sought of literature just to gain some knowledge. This was my niche-picking. I deliberately looked for books to keep me busy at the same time learning new things. I would publicize premature birth. I choose to publicize these because of the effects of premature births to children born. Children born prematurely have high chances of having development impairments. Additionally, prematurely delivered babies require lifesaving medical treatment that expensive and stressful to them. These will also strengthen the campaign aimed at safeguarding prenatal development to avoid such eventualities.

In the modern times, society and mothers have changed in the role they play in bringing up babies. Mothers and societies no longer care about nurturing aspect in the development of babies. The natural biological relationship between the mother and the newborn has changed greatly. Nurturing which should be a continuous process after birth has unfortunately been forfeited due to the influence of modern culture. As the world continues to modernize, culture is undermining the processes of teaching to be babies. The way we bring up our children today is to a large extend influenced by the socioeconomic organization of a society. Lack of close attachment between the mother and the baby and close care that fits them suppresses feeling of tenderness towards them. Minimal attention given to child nurturing and development teaches babies not to be babies by eliminating natural unison with others. Babies are no longer babies because lack of close mother-baby relationship have disintegrated resulting in very unsocial babies (Kimmel, 1992).

Wet nurse and baby bottle, cultural methods of providing infants with sustenance, and pacifiers are teaching our babies not to be babies. Additionally, substitute caregivers, security objects, playpens, cribs, and formula teach modern babies not be babies (Kimmel, 1992). These scenarios are common in cities where babies are left with baby care institutions the whole day as mothers go to work the whole day. Babies lack nurturing and tender care that mothers are supposed to provide.

I knew how to read before I went to school at the age of five. All I can remember about how I came to know how to read is that my elder sister used to have several story books with her in the the bedroom. I used to join her sometimes when I discovered she was not in the living room. As usual, I always found her reading story books. She used to read loudly the stories while I stared at the pages she was was reading from. I developed an interest of letting her allow me to also read it to her. It is at this point that she started slowly teaching me how to read. Initially, it was difficult comprehending the syllabus, vowels, and consonants. It was a positive experience since the drive to be able to read by myself compelled to even force my sister to teach me how to read even if she was doing something else. When I joined the pre-school at the age of six years, it was wonderful seeing my classmate compete to read. This was a more positive experience that helped me acquire reading skills that I later polished when I was in primary three.

There are many factors that influence children to know how to read. They range from inborn abilities to environmental factors. The primary factor is the wanting read motivation of children. For instance, by seeing others read, children are motivated by the urge to know how to read like the rest. Their interest in reading drives them to now know how to read. The environment at home also contributes to children knowing how to read (Sloan, Sloan & Sells, 2003). When children are read to and told stories by their parents or siblings they develop an interest of knowing how to read and write. Additionally, television and media technologies impacts on a child’s ability to learn how to read. Television and media sources drive the learning how to read among children. For instance, a child may be influenced to learn how to read if he/she sees other children read in television programs as a way of imitating the others. Conversely, there are those children who only learn how to read in a school environment. School creates an environment that gives the child good time to learn to read.

I can say I had an intimate attachment to my mother. My mother was my primary caregiver till I came of age. She used to adequately respond to my physical and emotional needs when I was young. I rarely woke up from sleep and find out that my mother was not around. I felt warm and loved in the presence of my mother and felt lonely whenever she left me with a different person. My attachment to my mother was so intense that when my mother secured teaching job in a neighboring school, I used to cold and unloved by the house help I was left behind with. Additional, my mother attachment to me was also strong that she would come at break time to hold me before going back school. This attachment between the two of us still felt today through psychological connectedness between me and my mother.
