Lesson Plan and Rationale

After completing the syllabus for your course, select one of its lessons and create a lesson plan and rationale. This plan should demonstrate your creative involvement with the material and best practices of teaching/learning, and also directly flow from your course objectives.

List the lesson objectives (1 or 2 objectives).

Explain how the objectives flow out of the course’s objectives and what specific behaviors or outcomes you expect from learners as a result of participating in this lesson.

Describe the instructional approach you would use, addressing the following questions:

What learning theory/principles are you following in this lesson?
How is this lesson learner-centered?
Describe the learning activity itself, and briefly explain how the activity matches the learning domain indicated by the objective.

Identify how the lesson’s learning outcome will be assessed for the students and your rationale for this choice.

Describe a pre/posttest, or other method, by which you could evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson. How might this information be used to improve the course? The program?
