The overall goal of the ? Interior Design for Selected Settings, is to engage interior design students in the design and making of sustainable lighting fixtures. This semester the class will partner with Lamp Plus (LP), ?one of the nation?s largest lighting retailers, which is based in Chatsworth. LP was established in 1976 and has over 40 retail lighting superstores throughout the western United States. With their superstores and online lighting store, they serve customers nationwide with the largest selection of functional and decorative indoor and outdoor lighting products. This project will be beneficial to Lamp Plus as it will provide research, design and development of sustainable lighting fixtures and also offer them student and community exposure and outreach. Graduate interior design students will gain invaluable experience by applying ?Eco-humane Design? principles on lighting projects, by working with the Lamp Plus professionals and visiting their facilities, by acquiring experiential learning through lighting research, design and development, and by developing their professional skillsets to enter the design industry….
