Question: Discourses establish a coherent way of describing and categorizing the social and physical world and refer to a body of ideas, beliefs and concepts that represent an accepted world-view. Hence, examining discourses provides a way of looking at the frameworks that underpin social phenomena.

Through critical analysis of Fly Away Peter, An Elegant Young Man,The Chosen Vessel and Pauline Hanson’s maiden speech to parliament, examine two “questionable” features within Australia’s national discourse that have endured over time. Then, hypothesise (consider) as to why these might stimulate writers to expose perceived flaws in the national discourse of Australia.
