Information about my workplace and scenario:

I am a Qualified Kindergarten Teacher. I work in an International Kindergarten in Hong Kong. I teach children aged 3-4 years old. The teachers and children in my school are multi-cultural. I am the class teacher of lower class. I have two assistant teachers working with me in my class. As my teacher assistants are not qualified or trained teachers, I have problems making sure the children are learning effectively. As we are from different cultures, the understanding and communication becomes a problem for me at times. I am currently using a non-directive mode for mentoring them as I would like them to analyse and reflect on their teaching skills and also observe and learn from me. But I feel they are unable to do so and thus the learning and teaching is not so effective in my class. I want to use a more directive approach to make sure they are able to follow the teaching skills and do so efficiently. I would like to know the correct way and methods to do so using the Mentoring approach.

My paper should also focus on the “effective learning for students”, “benefits and disadvantages of non – directive mentoring modes” and “directive mentoring for teaching assistants” and also write a literature review on “Working with teaching assistants”.
