Many environmental issues are global in nature, but individual governments may have sovereignty issues with international regulations, treaties, or control systems.

Address the following:

Identify and describe the most immediate environmental threats to the global community. In doing so, analyze the sovereignty concerns that would affect the efforts to solve these environmental problems.

2. The scientific method is the basic approach that is used to test and validate concepts so that they may be applied to real world problems.

Describe the scientific method by applying it to the issue of global warming. This requires linking the steps of the scientific method to the researching of global warming. The start of the process requires a statement of a causal relationship (a hypothesis). For instance, the research could start with a statement of the major factor contributing to global warming. The objective of the scientific process is to validate the proposed hypothesis. In this case, did you identify the correct independent variable?

3. Detail the history of the environmental movement in the U.S. Who was at the forefront? What actions and Acts were the foundation of the environmental field today?

4. The purpose and procedures for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) demonstrates the importance of environmental policymaking by the various levels of government.

Using an actual development project, describe the entire NEPA/EIS process and the documents required for being in compliance with government regulations for the selected project. Ensure that you cover the end result for the project.

5. This question will focus on the environmental policy making process and the political process.

Using a specific case study, assess the role and purpose of government agencies and departments in addressing and resolving environmental problems. Be sure to discuss the inter agency coordination process and how politics can influence the outcome of an environmental issue or problem.

6. Environmental Science involves an understanding of science and policymaking. Discuss the nature of this relationship and detail how science influences or fails to influence policy in the U.S.
