Assessment 2 – Marking Criteria for Report on Employment Relations

 

Case Study: Constructive Relations at Top Trucking Company (pp. 169-170 of the textbook)

 

Your report will be assessed on the extent to which it meets each of the following criteria. Only one of the available marking options is to be chosen for each criterion. Please be aware that for some criteria, unequal intervals between tick marks are used.

 

Content (28 Marks): Does your report demonstrate:

 

A thorough knowledge and critical analysis of the topics expressed in a coherent format and in the language of human resource management? (7.5 Marks)

A critical review of the academic literature relevant to Employment Relations and other related areas of HRM presented by the case study? (5.0 Marks)

Appropriateness of responses to the case study topic questions including an effective analysis of the situation along with relevant commentary on the case scenario? (3.5 Marks)

A well-structured, concise and clear presentation of appropriate recommendations? (3.5 Marks)

Appropriate use of argument within the report, including a properly structured introduction and comprehensive conclusion? (5.0 Marks)

Relevant and accurate literature is used to develop and support arguments (cited at least twelve (12) academic journal articles)? (3.5 Marks)

 

Presentation (7 Marks): Does your report demonstrate:

 

Clarity of expression, grammar and spelling? (2.0 Marks)

Strict conformity to Harvard referencing style (e.g., all in-text references and reference list are correct)? (2.0 Marks)

Appropriate presentation format (short business report) as required by assignment writing guidelines? (1.5 Marks)

Length of 2000 words (± 10%) (including tables, figures but excluding the title page, reference list and appendixes) ? (1.5 Marks)

 

Penalty: Marks are to be deducted because of:

 

Late submission without approval if applicable [(-5% × 35) / day = – 1.75 Marks/day ]
