MARRIAGE

WHAT  IS MARRIAGE ?
The definitions to marriage are many,but they all come to the same conclusion.
For example:
a)Marriage is the union between a man and a woman who make up a permanent and exclusive commitment to each other.
b)Marriage is the union of a man and a woman who commit romantically loving and caring for each other and sharing the burdens and benefits of domestic life.
In both the above cases the writer is making an assumption that there are no marriages of same sex( gays etc).
On the Biblical view marriage is termed as a union where two couples enter into a covenant before God and men and promise to be committed to each other .Before God and

men ,the husband accepts or promises some certain marital responsibilities such as provision for food,shelter,clothing, protection  etc for his wife and promises to

care for her emotional needs as well.
Even in some traditions that permit or have permitted polygamy each marriage is between a man and a woman.
MARRIED LIFE
After the two parties (husband and wife) make that commitment live together, then there are some certain conditions to be met. The husband must be committed to

providing for the wife’s’ needs and the wife must be submissive to the husband. In both cases, being honesty is a wonderful virtue which must be emblazed by both

parties.
Marriage life must be accompanied by understanding and by being ready to carry the burdens of your spouce.All have different weaknesses as human beings so

acceptance of once weakness positively goes along way in helping the weak partner to raise up.
In marriage listening and absorbing what the other is saying is very important. In some traditions women are not allowed to voice an opinion before a man no matter how

good such a point may begin other traditions once in a month a woman must be given some discipline either by being slapped or kicked around for the men to prove their

superiority.
WHAT MARRIAGE IS NOT
In many traditions (mostly African) where the writer of this article comes from it is believed that in marriage, children must be and I repeat must be a

product of the same so as to protect and retain the marriage life. If by any means, children are not forthcoming the blame is passed to the woman and by so doing the

man is given permission to marry another wife. Simply said marriage is not complete without children according to the African culture. For the African culture marriage

is not complete without children.
RELATIONSHIP
Marriage is a created relationship deep into the hearts of the husband and wife. This relationship can grow to higher levels or it can go down to lower levels

or it can remain in the elemental basis. For  a marriage  to stripe the relationship must be built on love, humbleness, understanding and the many other good gifts

that can be rendered un-conditionally.
THE SEAL
In the Christian or religious way, marriage as we saw is a covenant made between husband and wife before God and men, and the seal is the ring and signing of a

document where each commits their love and faithfulness in a certificate.
In the traditional way (African) an animal must be slaughtered for the blood to be poured down which acts as the seal to the agreement. In both cases this seal

is witnessed by both parties of the husbands’ side and wife’s’ side. By performing the two acts in each case, then the seal of marriage is put in place and accepted by

all as a binding agreement.
WHAT MARRIAGE MUST DO
Marriage must provide conjugal rights to both the husband and wife at the appropriate time. In line with that , marriage must be guided by respect and

understanding. In love there is giving and taking ,each side must be prepared to give and take love as and when provided and that should be always.
In marriage, appreciation must be a availed in everything the married couple do.By any reason if one wrongs the other, then they must be prepared to say SORRY.
EVILS OF MARRIAGE
As stated earlier on marriage is a wonderful union which is enjoyed by both the husband and wife,it has some evils which haunt it if allowed to infiltrate.

Infidelity, dishonesties and many others. Marriage must be cultured in the utmost hostesses and being faithful to each other.
CONCLUSION
a.    Marriage is natures best gift if any wants it to be. Appreciate the role played by it and the returns are baunty.Accept the indented reason for its being and

it rewards the marriage union which is God given and must be embraced by all.
