Assignment 2: Mini Case Study

Respond to any one of the three exam questions assigned by your facilitator. Make sure you use the APA 6th edition style guidelines. Reference from 2010 to the present.

1. Your 35 year old patient has been diagnosed with candidiasis of the intertrigenous areas of her inner thighs. She is concerned that this is a sexually transmitted disease. What education would you provide this patient with respect to the how this type of skin infection typically develops and the treatment?
2. Your 80 year female patient has been diagnosed with Tinea corporis. Discuss how this type of skin infection develops and how it differs from Candidiasis. What is the difference with respect to the different types of Tinea and their location on the body, i.e. unguium, pedis, etc.
3. A 4 year old presents with crusted lesions on the face that have developed over the past 2 days. They started as small vesicles on a small erythematous macular area and then started to spread. Considering the potential infectious agents, discuss possible differential diagnoses and their pathophysiology.
