Discussion 1: Advocacy in Action
“In order to change policies and procedures that negatively affect children, you must become actively engaged” (Morrison, 2007, p. 16).
You have been reading about advocacy and the many levels and forms it can take. In preparation for this Discussion, choose at least three of the Web sites from the Learning Resources to explore. As you review the Web sites, look for:
- Models of advocacy in action
- Role models who inspire you
- Issues to advocate for
- Ways to advocate for young children and their families
By Day 7 of Week 10:
Post the following:
- Your personal/professional definition of “advocacy”
- One invaluable “lesson” you learned about advocacy from a specific Web site (Be sure to reference your source.)
