Team TV Show Analysis Directions

Overview:

This project is a written analysis and recommendations based on a television show of your choosing. As a team you will need to select, watch, analyze, summarize, and critique the show based on OB theory. Then, as a team, you must prepare a written evaluation.

The following sections outline key steps to success.

WRITTEN ANALYSIS OF SHOW

This assignment will consist of written analysis (standard prose form, 1 margins, Times New Roman 12 pt., Double-Spaced).

Your paper MUST contain the following sections and you MUST identify each section (section titles are in bold.)

FACTS
Approximately 3/4 to 1 page
A summary of the most important facts ONLY
oThe title of the show and the particular episode
oA brief summary of the plot
oHighlights of important scenes
No analysis or recommendations

ISSUE/SOURCE OF CONFLICT
One paragraph (i.e., no more than page)
All shows, whether comedy or drama, have some sort of conflict which causes the characters to act in a certain way
The topic sentence of this paragraph should be a succinct statement of the main problem (e.g., The primary problem/issue in this episode is _______.)

EXPLANATIONS
Approximately 2-3 pages (about – 1 page each)
You should list three possible OB-related explanations for the problem/issue, each based on an important theory or concept from the class (e.g., leadership, team dynamics, conflict, communication, motivation, etc.)
oEach explanation should have its own sub-heading
oYou should completely describe each explanation before moving to the next explanation
You should briefly (3-4 sentences) describe each theory/concept
You should clearly show how the theory/concept applies to the situation

LESSONS LEARNED
Approximately 1 page
You should list three lessons learned (i.e., lessons that you as a team have learned, not lessons that the characters learned) from the events in the show and your subsequent analysis
Each lesson should be discussed in about 1 paragraph (3-5 sentences)

APPLICATIONS
Approximately 1 page
You should list three ways that you will apply the lessons learned in the show (e.g., when working in teams, when leading, when serving, etc.)
Each lesson should be discussed in about 1 paragraph (3-5 sentences)

SUMMARY OF TEAM PROCESSES
In half a page or so, summarize how your team collaborated. What technologies did you use? How did you brainstorm? How did you overcome obstacles? What worked well and what did not work well?
