Directions: Choose from one of the following topics and develop a documented research paper of 5-7 double-spaced pages. Write in 3rd person, using a formal voice (no

contractions). The paper should refer to literary works, and use critical support. There should be at least five (5) sources, three (3) of which should be critical

support. Be sure to include in-text citations and a Works Cited page. Turn in a printed copy and submit this paper to the course dropbox.

Grades will be based on content, organization, grammar, and MLA Format (citations and Works Cited page).

period of a given author is important to the author?s body of literature. What can be learned about the historical period based on the literature?

2. Discuss why a given author (read in this class) is relevant. Why is this author still read in college classrooms? What is the impact of this writer on contemporary

and past culture? Refer to the body of literature and critical support.

3. Choose one type of literary criticism and discuss why a particular author (read from class) has a body of literature that corresponds to this type of criticism.
