discuss how at least three characters from the film Pan’s Labyrinth move between the Raw and Cooked Axis.How do they begin and how do they end up?  How might Mercedes and the Doctor be interpreted as “mediums of transformation” for other characters? (Mercedes is literally a “Cook”, and the Doctor helps those who are cooked (alive), move into the state of being “raw” (dead).

For example, Ofelia begins as “raw” and then her mother tries to “cook” her by making her wear the pretty dress and behave properly.  Or, Captain Vidal appears very “cooked” because he is an official, but moves to the “raw” due to his cruel and violent behavior.
