PSC 327 Spring 2015 Paper topics for term paper
Write a term paper of 10-12 pages, due Thursday, April 2nd, on one of the following topics. If you wish to write on a topic not listed, you must present it to me. The American Psychological Association (APA) Style manual must be followed for citations, bibliography, and formatting of your paper. The paper is to be 12-point font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins. The Writing Center in the library has the APA style manual, and they can help and advise you on structuring your paper. You will submit your paper to the online anti-plagiarism website turnitin.com. I will give you instructions about this later in the course.
• Discuss one of the religious or philosophical traditions of nonviolence, such as Buddhism, Jainism, early Christianity, anarchism, pacifism, feminist theories of nonviolence, or another tradition, as a source of the concept of nonviolence. How did the concept of nonviolence evolve, in the tradition that you choose? How applicable is the tradition to the practice of nonviolence today?

Marshall Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, 2nd edition. PuddleDancer Press, 2003. The best resource on how to shift the way we communicate in order to build and improve relationships, even with “enemies.”

Robert L. Homes and Barry L. Gan, eds., Nonviolence in Theory and Practice, Waveland Press, 2012. An excellent selection of readings on the topic of nonviolence, both theoretical and practical.
