Read the case Cook Composites and Polymers Co. (9-608-055).  Answer the below
questions in a document no longer than 7 pages (not including attachments).  Each
question should be addressed in a separate section of your document; hence your
document should have four distinct sections.  Note this is not a research project.  You
should focus on the information contained in the case and you should look to leverage the
knowledge you have acquired in the course through lecture, assigned readings, and class
discussion to answer the questions posed below.  Also you are not to consult any 3
rd

parties other than the course instructor on this project.  Each block of questions has equal
weight.

[1] What is the annual capacity of CCP’s Kansas City plant?

[2] Compared to business as usual (sending its rinse styrene to cement kilns), what are
the financial implications of CCP producing the concrete coating by-product (BPS)?

[3] What would be the environmental impact of CCP implementing BPS?  Consider just
the impact on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, but consider the impacts system-wide,
i.e. not just on CCP’s factory.

[4] What would you recommend to CCP management in regard to its rinse styrene
waste stream and why?
