First develop a clear case for the causes of the capacity constraints at the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Pre-Admission Testing Area (PATA). This is a case where process maps, queuing theory and quantitative process analysis should be joined with qualitative approaches to developing recommendations to improve the processes and reconfigure the operation.
Read the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Pre-Admission Testing Area case (attached).
Write an essay (not to exceed 4 pages double spaced, charts and maps are extra) addressing the following:
1. Describe the current process and identify the specific areas that slow the process.
2. Describe whether the proposed options in the case make sense and could any of them be a solution.
3. Make specific recommendations on how the current process could be modified to increase capacity. OK to suggest option(s) that are currently not in use.
