I need to write a grant style research proposal. I have to write an NIH style grant proposal for my class. The topic for the paper is: improving the biocompatibility of the implantable neural electrode. What I have to do this for the paper is: propose to design or improve or characterize any biomaterial and implantable device within the nervous system. And within that field, you need to propose something that has not been done at least based on your literature search, and your research needs to have a significance either to the fundemental understanding of science or clinical outcome. We have to write the proposal according to the NIH R01 format (1+12 pages), including Specific Aims (1 page), Significance (2-3 pages), Innovation (1 page), Approach (8 pages) and Reference (outside of the page limit). If you go to NIH website, you should find the template and instructions on R01 format. You are only asked to write the Specfic Aims and Research Strategies sections.
