Required for topics. Make an appointment with Sr. Nagy by Nov. 1, 2013 to review your proposed 3 selections and possible sources. The appointment must take place between Nov. 1 –Nov. 8, 2013 with either the option of an in-person 15 minute meeting or a 15 minute phone conference. Send 3 possible dates/times. Sr. Nagy will confirm a day/time by e-mail.
Semester Project Completion deadline: (1) WRITTEN REPORT DUE by Mon., Dec. 9, 2013 11 p.m. Use the Assignment link on the HIST 5360-OL01 Course to submit. Leave a print copy in Sr. Nagy’s
Main 202 F Drop Box or submit a second copy to Sr. Nagy’s OLLU e-mail to make sure there is no
loss in cyberspace or through an electronic glitch. GRADUATING SENIORS: by NOON, 12-9-13.
(2) Also required: Post the Discussion Board Synopsis to the HIST 5360 Disc. Board by the same
due dates listed above. See the Syllabus, p. 4 for the four points to include in your Disc. Board

HISTORY Majors and Minors: You may select any topic related to the course that uses historical
analysis.
All other HIST 5360-OL01 students : Follow the guidelines below for the topics:
Topics: I. TWO persons who made a major contribution to the Arab world or Islamic society but are not well known by Westerners (aim for one male and one female)
A. ONE person: must be an Arab (Value: 5% of Course Grade)
B. ONE person: must be a Muslim but not an Arab and not from the Western world
(Value: 5% of Course Grade)
2. TWO major historical events that shaped the Arab world or Islamic society with
A. ONE major historical event in the Arab world or Islamic society BEFORE contact with
the Western world. . (Value: 5% of Course Grade)
B. ONE major historical event in the Arab world or Islamic society AFTER contact with
the Western world. . (Value: 5% of Course Grade)
Length: (no more than 2 pages for each of the 4 selections; 8 pages total
PLUS an annotated bibliography (see separate posting for Annotated Bibliography guide).
AND endnotes or footnotes citing the sources used in Chicago-style format.

Arab world and/or Islamic society?
